At the end of the nineties, Zahed Nurin was forced to flee war-torn Afghanistan. In his novel “Bitterzoete thee” Nurin describes his family history.

Beri Shalmashi is a Dutch writer and filmmaker and graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy in Amsterdam in 2008. In the same year, Beri Shalmashi, who is of Iranian Kurdish descent, won the ECHO Award as the most excellent bicultural student in higher education.

Screenwriter “The Mother”

Nina Polak studied Literary Studies and Cultural analysis in Amsterdam and New York. Since 2013 she has been writing for the Dutch news website De Correspondent. As a novelist she made her debut with “We Won’t Be Smashed to Pieces”. The novel was nominated with 3 prestigious awards.
